Hi! My name is Machiel Verhaar. I am from the Netherlands and I live in Madrid. I’ve been playing the drums for 45 years now. It started as a hobby, but after my first gig I began to think about a drumming career. My drum teacher at the time pointed me at Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA and this is where I ended up studying drums with the greats. When I came back to the Netherlands, people were approaching me to show them what I had learned in the US.
This is how my teaching activities took off and I discovered I actually like passing my knowledge to others. In the meantime I have been busy playing with different bands all over The Netherlands, Europe and other continents. Now, 35 years later, I am still teaching with great enthusiasm and active playing live on stage.
Lessons are now online through a Zoom connection. They are done in English (or Dutch, my native language).
